OBDD Representation of Intersection Graphs

چکیده
Ordered Binary Decision Diagrams (OBDDs for short) are popular dynamic data structures for Boolean functions. In some modern applications, we have to handle such huge graphs that the usual explicit representations by adjacency lists or adjacency matrices are infeasible. To deal with such huge graphs, OBDD-based graph representations and algorithms have been investigated. Although the size of OBDD representations may be large in general, it is known to be small for some special classes of graphs. In this paper, we show upper bounds and lower bounds of the size of OBDDs representing some intersection graphs such as bipartite permutation graphs, biconvex graphs, convex graphs, (2-directional) orthogonal ray graphs, and permutation graphs. key words: implicit representation of graphs, ordered binary decision diagrams, orthogonal ray graphs, permutation graphs

Some lower bounds for the $L$-intersection number of graphs
For a set of non-negative integers~$L$, the $L$-intersection number of a graph is the smallest number~$l$ for which there is an assignment of subsets $A_v subseteq {1,dots, l}$ to vertices $v$, such that every two vertices $u,v$ are adjacent if and only if $|A_u cap A_v|in L$. The bipartite $L$-intersection number is defined similarly when the conditions are considered only for the ver...
متن کاملOBDD-Based Representation of Interval Graphs
A graph G = (V,E) can be described by the characteristic function of the edge set χE which maps a pair of binary encoded nodes to 1 iff the nodes are adjacent. Using Ordered Binary Decision Diagrams (OBDDs) to store χE can lead to a (hopefully) compact representation. Given the OBDD as an input, symbolic/implicit OBDD-based graph algorithms can solve optimization problems by mainly using functi...
متن کاملLower Bounds on the OBDD Size of Graphs of Some Popular Functions
Ordered binary decision diagrams (OBDDs) are a data structure for Boolean functions which supports many useful operations. It finds many applications in logic design, CAD, model checking, and symbolic graph algorithms. Nevertheless, many simple functions are known to have exponential OBDD size w. r. t. their number of variables. In order to investigate the limits of symbolic graph algorithms wh...
متن کاملOn cycles in intersection graphs of rings
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with non-zero identity. We describe all $C_3$- and $C_4$-free intersection graph of non-trivial ideals of $R$ as well as $C_n$-free intersection graph when $R$ is a reduced ring. Also, we shall describe all complete, regular and $n$-claw-free intersection graphs. Finally, we shall prove that almost all Artin rings $R$ have Hamiltonian intersection graphs. ...
متن کاملRepresentation of Graphs by OBDDs
In this paper, the space requirements for the OBDD representation of certain graph classes, specifically cographs, several types of graphs with few P4s, unit interval graphs, interval graphs and bipartite graphs are investigated. Upper and lower bounds are proven for all these graph classes and it is shown that in most (but not all) cases a representation of the graphs by OBDDs is advantageous ...
